Twisha Sharma death case: After 10 days on run, husband reaches Jabalpur court to surrender | India News
New Delhi: Samarth Singh, husband of Noida-based model-actor Tisha Sharma, who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal, appeared before a Jabalpur court on Friday to surrender, her lawyer said.The development came about an hour after his anticipatory bail plea filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court was withdrawn.He withdrew the plea from a single bench of Justice Abaniendra Kumar Singh. He had no choice but to surrender.The anticipatory bail application was filed in the High Court on Thursday after the lower court rejected his plea last week.Singh’s mother, Giribala Singh — a retired district and sessions judge who currently heads the Bhopal consumer court — was granted anticipatory bail by a Bhopal court last week. He is also named in the FIR registered in the case.Tisha Sharma was found dead in her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. While her family accused her in-laws of dowry harassment and inciting suicide, the Singh family alleged that she was a drug addict.The police registered an FIR against Samarth Singh and his mother under Sections 80(2), 85 and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code along with the relevant provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.The police also announced a cash reward of Rs 30,000 for information leading to the arrest of Samarth Singh and applied to the court to cancel his passport.(with PTI input)
