Bengal minister: No ban on cattle slaughter, follow existing rules | India News
Bengal Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul said cattle slaughter in the state remains legal if done under provisions already in force. “We have never asked anyone to close their shops. There are specific provisions in the existing law which we have to comply with. There is a 2018 High Court judgment and a government order from June 2022. This decision has been taken keeping everything in mind.” Paul’s comment followed an appeal by a prominent cleric, asking Muslims to avoid buying cows for Eid sacrifices.
