17 properties with links to Abhishek under KMC lens

KOLKATA: ‘Shantiniketan’ on Harish Mukherjee Road, where a notice was slapped on Monday alleging unauthorized construction, is among 17 properties “owned or co-owned by Abhishek Banerjee, his companies and family” that are under investigation by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, a KMC official said. Officials said notices under Section 400(1) of the KMC Act, 1980 – issued for deviations from approved plans – have been stuck at all 17 addresses. The KMC’s valuation department initially compiled a list of 42 properties owned or co-owned by Banerjee, which was later trimmed to 17. Banerjee vowed to fight. At a meeting of TMC MLAs at Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat home on Tuesday, she said: “Let them do whatever they want. Search my house, send a notice. I will not bow down. Anyway, my fight against BJP will continue. In the notice pasted at ‘Shantiniketan’, the concerned persons were directed to appear before the Executive Engineer of the Building Department with a fresh drawing of the changes made along with the sanctioned plan. “Once the documents are submitted, we will give the owners an opportunity to appear for the hearing.”
