Indian among dead in mass Ukrainian drone strike in Russia; Zelenskyy calls attack ‘justified’
New Delhi: An Indian worker was killed and three others injured in a massive drone strike in Ukraine on Sunday in the Moscow region, the embassy said.“An Indian worker lost his life and three others were injured in a drone strike in the Moscow region earlier today. Embassy officials visited the site and met the injured workers at the hospital. The embassy mourns the loss of life and is working with the company’s management and local authorities to provide the necessary assistance to the workers,” it said in a post on X.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kiev’s attack on Russia was “fully justified”, coming just days after a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack on the Ukrainian capital killed at least 24 people.“Our response to Russia’s prolongation of war and attacks on our cities and communities is completely justified. This time, Ukraine’s long-range sanctions have reached the Moscow region, and we are telling Russians clearly: their state must end its war,” he said.Russian authorities said nearly 600 Ukrainian drones targeted the country overnight, killing four people, in what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described as “fully justified” retaliation for Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine. Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defense systems destroyed 556 drones overnight, and another 30 were intercepted after dawn, making it one of the largest Ukrainian drone attacks of the war so far. The ministry said the disruptions occurred across 14 Russian regions, as well as Crimea, annexed by Russia from Ukraine, and the Black and Azov seas.
