Taking major action against vehicle theft, Ajmer Police in Rajasthan has arrested two vicious vehicle thieves. Police have recovered 30 stolen two-wheelers from the possession of the accused. The estimated value of the recovered vehicles is said to be more than Rs 50 lakh. This action was disclosed by SP Harshvardhan Aggarwal.
SP said that in view of the continuously increasing incidents of vehicle theft in the district, a special team was formed. Saroj Chaudhary was leading this team. ASI Atmaram, constables Sukhram, Bhomaram, Pradhan and Dinesh were included in the team. The police had received information from an informer, after which a trap was laid and two suspects were detained.
During police interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing bikes from many cities. The 30 vehicles recovered include 11 Royal Enfield Bullets, 17 other motorcycles and 2 scooties. According to the police, the accused used to target vehicles by doing recce in different areas and as soon as they got a chance, they used to steal and run away.
vehicles recovered Ajmer Thefts were carried out from many areas including the city, Pisangan, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Jaitaran, Degana, Jaipur, Khatushyamji, Champakheda and Bhopalgarh. Of these, 5 to 6 bikes have been recovered from Ajmer city alone and 3 bikes from Pisangan area. The police is now engaged in the process of identifying the real owners of these vehicles and handing them over.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sirhuddin alias Sheru and Laxman Ram Meghwal. Both are residents of Merta City of Nagaur district. According to the police, Sarhuddin is a history-sheeter and 15 cases including fraud and Arms Act are already registered against him. Both the accused were involved in vehicle theft incidents for a long time.
SP Harshvardhan Aggarwal told that the accused used to steal bikes to fulfill their drug addiction. After theft, they would hide the vehicles in isolated places or bushes and later sell them at cheap prices. He said that the objective of Ajmer Police is to maintain trust among the common people and fear among criminals. At present, the police is also interrogating the accused in connection with other incidents.
