EC announces Phase III of SIR: 16 states 3 UTs to be covered – check list | India News
New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday announced the conduct of the third phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) covering 16 states and 3 Union Territories. It will not include Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the poll body said.“The Election Commission of India has ordered the conduct of special intensive revision (SIR) in 16 states and 3 Union Territories (UTs), it said in a statement.“Additionally, the SIR of voter list will cover the entire country in the third phase except for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. After considering the completion of the second phase of census and taking into account the weather conditions in the upper regions/snow covered areas, the SIR schedule for these three states/UTs will be announced later.”“Over 6.3 lakh BLOs and 9.2 lakh BLAs appointed by political parties were involved in various stages of the SIR process as on the date of order of SIR in the respective states/UTs covering about 59 electors in the first two phases of SIR in 13 states/UTs,” it further said.The poll body said that in the third phase of SIR, over 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to reach 36.73 crore voters in the counting phase with the support of 3.42 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) nominated by political parties.
