New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Dr Akhilesh Yadav Friday supported Trinamool Congress And DMK After their defeat in the recent assembly elections, while apparently taking a dig at the Congress, “we are not the ones who go on hard times”.Akhilesh’s comments in the context of severing ties with Congress’ ally DMK. Tamil Nadu and extending support to actor Vijay’s Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), which has fueled animosity in the Bharat bloc.The 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal cast a foreboding shadow over the rival blocs of the NDA as Mamata and Stalin were the two powerful regional leaders in the anti-BJP camp.“We are not the ones who leave (you) in difficult times,” the former UP chief minister wrote on X, sharing a photo from his meeting with Didi and DMK president MK Stalin in Kolkata.A day before the former Dr Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh met Banerjee at his Kalighat residence and extended support to the TMC leadership in West Bengal after its defeat. He also alleged that the elections in the state were conducted “Uttar Pradesh model” through intimidation and manipulation.

The meeting took on political significance amid efforts by the opposition to reassess its strategies after debacle in multiple states and Banerjee’s push to revive and strengthen the Bharat Bloc after the TMC’s defeat.Akhilesh Yadav, who led Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017, accused BJPElection Commission and “underground elements” of using “multi-layer mafia tactics” during Bengal elections.“What happened in Uttar Pradesh was repeated in Bengal. Polling agents of the opposition were threatened, and votes were taken in fear. Central forces were used to ensure the defeat of the opposition,” he alleged.

“We remember when there were fair elections here, Didi became the chief minister. This year’s election was held in a multi-level mafia-style manipulation. What BJP has done in Uttar Pradesh is just justice. Learning from that, they looted the entire election,” alleged Akhilesh.“BJP, Election Commission and underground operatives together managed these elections. Officials were lured with promises of high posts. 3,00,000 Central Force personnel voted under pressure,” he said.Akhilesh also expressed concern about security Mamata Banerjee And National General Secretary of Trinamool Abhishek Banerjee.Referring to the killing of Subvendu Adhikari’s associate Chandranath Rath, Akhilesh said Union Home Minister Amit Shah was responsible for the incident.TMC, DMK and SP are components of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.In West Bengal, the BJP bagged 207 seats in the 294-member assembly, crossing the two-thirds mark and ending 15 years of uninterrupted rule by the TMC. Mamata Banerjee-led party has reduced to 80 seats.In Tamil Nadu, the DMK won only 59 seats in the 234-member assembly.
