Panic in Jalandhar: Scooter Fire Near BSF Headquarters Sparks Investigation | India News
The incident took place around 8 pm on the busy road outside the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Frontier headquarters, which connects the main city with the Amritsar-New Delhi national highway. Officials said the scooter was completely gutted.A police patrol was nearby at the time of the incident. Senior police officers, forensic experts, a dog squad and a bomb disposal team have reached the spot to investigate the situation. The area has been cordoned off.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur told PTI that it was too early to say whether there was an explosion.“Initially, the facts are that an Activa (scooter) parked here caught fire. We are still verifying the facts,” he said.The blast scattered several meters of debris around and damaged a traffic light pole. Forensic teams are collecting vital evidence and samples from the scene.Police are interrogating the owner of the scooter, Gurpreet Singh. He told police that his car was due for mechanical service and that he worked for a delivery company. After giving the order, he parked the vehicle outside the BSF headquarters, officials said.Security concernsThe incident comes a day before Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann left for Jalandhar during his ‘Shukarana Yatra’ on Wednesday and stayed at his official residence in Old Baradari.
