In the 2026 assembly elections, BJP’s Kushal Dowari contested against Akhil Gogoi of Congress-aligned Rajjore Party for Shivsagar constituency.Shivsagar assembly constituency had a total of 209976 registered voters in the electoral roll for the 2026 assembly elections, including 103484 males, 106491 females and 1 third gender.Exit polls for the Assam contest released on Wednesday evening indicated a clear majority for the incumbent Himanta Biswa Sharma-led government, with most pollsters favoring the BJP for a third consecutive term in the tea-producing state.Sibsagar Assembly constituency is a general (unreserved) constituency located in Sibsagar district of Assam. It is one of the 10 assembly segments under Jorhat Parliamentary Constituency.In the 2021 Assam Assembly Election, the constituency had 1,52,087 registered voters, 1,24,219 valid votes were cast. Independent candidate Akhil Gogoi won the seat by securing 57,219 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Surbhi Rajkanwari came second with 45,344 votes, losing by a margin of 11,875 votes.In the 2016 assembly elections, Sibsagar had 1,38,397 voters, with 1,13,331 valid votes recorded. Congress candidate Pranab Kumar Gogoi won the seat with 48,584 votes, defeating BJP candidate Surbhi Rajkanwar, who got 48,042 votes. The margin of victory was 542 votes.
