AIADMKEr Nallathambi emerged victorious, securing 73167 votes against DMK’s Chinnadurai K by 14404 votes.Gangavalli assembly constituency is located in Salem district Tamil Nadu and reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. The constituency is part of the Kallakurichi Lok Sabha constituency and typically witnesses electoral contests involving Dravidian parties, particularly the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), reflecting the prevailing political pattern across the region.In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,18,854 voters, out of which 1,75,981 valid votes were cast. AIADMK candidate Maruthamuthu A won with 74,301 votes, DMK candidate Rekha Priyadarshini J, who got 72,039 votes. The winning margin stood at 2,262 votes, indicating a close contest between the two main Dravidian parties.Earlier, in the 2011 assembly elections, Gangavalli had 1,83,269 voters and recorded 1,50,047 valid votes. Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) candidate Subha R won the seat with 72,922 votes, defeating DMK candidate Chinnadurai, who got 59,457 votes. The margin of victory was 13,465 votes reflecting the influence of the DMDK-led coalition during that election cycle.
