Thalapathy Vijay married fan Sangeeta Sornalingam on 25 August 1999, with whom he has 2 children. Recently, after 27 years of marriage, Sangeeta had filed a petition demanding divorce from Vijay. According to India Today report, Sangeeta cited Vijay’s extra marital affair as the reason for divorce.

In the petition, Sangeeta alleged that Thalapathy Vijay was having an extra-marital affair with the actress since 2021, due to which their relationship started deteriorating. Vijay assured her that he would end his relationship with the actress, but despite being given repeated chances, he did not do so.
