The verdict will be seen in Tamil Nadu’s 234-seat assembly elections Dravidian Munnetra Kazgam (DMK), led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, fought against the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and a resurgent BJP-led coalition. The campaign focused on issues such as welfare schemes, law and order and the wider debate between Dravidian political identity and the narrative of national integration. While the DMK government touts its record on industrial growth and social justice, the opposition has targeted it for allegations of corruption and concerns over power shortages.
