Pingla Assembly Election Result 2026

Pingla of West Midnapore district is currently represented by Ajit Maiti of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. In the 2021 elections, he polled 1,12,435 votes, defeating BJP’s Antara Bhattacharya, who polled 1,05,779 votes, winning by a margin of 6,656. Key issues in this largely rural, agrarian constituency include dependence on paddy and potato cultivation, demand for guaranteed irrigation, and improved farm-gate prices for small and marginal farmers. Road connectivity between villages and markets, upgradation of government schools and health centers, and controlling seasonal migration for work reiterated the concerns mentioned in the district-level livelihood assessment. Pingla is a general (non-reserved) seat under Ghatal Lok Sabha constituency, represented by TMC MP Deepak Adhikari (Dev), who retained the parliamentary seat in 2024 by a margin of over 1.8 lakh votes, strengthening Trinamool’s organizational edge across the belt. Historically, the area was a stronghold of the Democratic Socialist Party (Prabodh Chandra) before its decisive shift to the TMC from 2016, marking a significant shift in the Left-of-Centre’s rural politics here.
