New Delhi: The Times Internet Half Marathon saw a strong participation of women athletes, with the under-29 10-km category showcasing speed, determination and emerging talent.Leading the way in the category was 22-year-old Shakuntala Devi, who finished first with a chip time of 42:31. Having been associated with running for the past five years, he credits his brother for introducing him to the sport and shaping his early journey. Shakuntala has represented at the national level, and after securing a spot in her first marathon, she was encouraged to continue running longer distances. Since then, he has shown consistent progress, steadily building his performance.The second position went to 18-year-old Neha, who clocked a chip time of 44:22. Taking up running two years ago, Neha has been involved in sports since childhood, initially playing cricket and handball before transitioning to marathons. Talking about his approach, he shared a dynamic outlook, saying he does not set specific goals and prefers to focus on the present, adapting as opportunities arise. He described the memorable experience of the Times Internet Half Marathon.Third place was secured by 26-year-old Sweta Sah, who clocked a chip time of 44:22, adding to the competitive edge of the category. Running for the past three years, she balances her career as a physiotherapist with continuous training. For Sah, running is an exercise in discipline and progression, and he is now preparing for longer distances with a focus on marathon running.The U-29 women’s category reflects a mix of budding talent and evolving ambitions, with runners at different stages of their journey coming together on a common platform.As the race unfolds, it becomes clear that beyond time and location, the event celebrates purpose and growth where every runner carries a story and every finish line heralds something more.
