West Bengal Assembly Elections: EC to review key preparations in Kolkata ahead of Phase 2 polls

With the April 29 second phase of the West Bengal assembly elections just days away, the authorities will convene a high-level coordination meeting in Kolkata on Sunday to assess poll preparations in key districts.The meeting, held at the Dhan Dhanya Auditorium, will bring together senior police officers, election authorities and central force commanders overseeing Kolkata North, Kolkata South and South 24 Parganas.

“The meeting has been called to assess the overall preparedness in the electoral districts under Kolkata and to ensure smooth coordination among all agencies involved in the polling process,” the official told PTI.Officials said the discussions will focus on deployment of forces, mapping of vulnerabilities, coordination between civil and police administrations and final preparation of poll workers. The participants will include Police Commissioner of Kolkata, District Election Officers, Election Commission Observer, CAPF Commander and Returning Officer.The review gained importance after the first phase on April 23 recorded over 93 percent voter turnout in 152 constituencies in 16 districts. Similar meetings were held across the state to ensure fair, free and fair polling in the two-phase elections.
