Telangana: K Kavitha set to launch new regional party today, pays tribute to Telangana martyrs | India News
New Delhi: K Kavita on Saturday paid floral tributes to those who died during the 1969 Telangana state agitation at Amaraverula Stupam at Gan Park in Hyderabad before launching her new political party.About seven months after leaving the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, former daughter Kavita Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is set to launch a new regional political party focused on what he describes as Telangana’s “ambition and unfinished agenda”.Speaking to ANI on Friday, Kavita said that she and her supporters were expelled from BRS instead of leaving voluntarily.“The BRS party was created to fulfill the regional aspirations of Telangana, but they have changed their name, work and party spirit, thereby severing their bond with the people. When a party deviates from its fundamental issue, it cannot survive. We need a regional party for Telangana’s unfulfilled agenda and aspirations, which will be our party,” he said. She also addressed her rift with her father-led party, saying: “The BRS party, of which my father is the president, has expelled us. We have not left them, neither family nor party. We have been expelled. I don’t want to go into that. But I am a Telangana girl. I have given Telangana blood, we are very committed to our cause. We have spent 20 years of our lives in the Telangana movement. To develop Telangana, fulfill its aspirations, whether our old party is there or not, whether our family is with us or not, I believe the people of Telangana are my family. The smell of the soil of Telangana will drive us away.”Kavitha’s exit from BRS after months of internal conflict. He was expelled from the party in September 2025 for alleged anti-party activities after publicly criticizing senior leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh Rao.After the suspension, he accused Harish Rao and Santosh Rao of “planning to destroy our family and party” in coordination with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Later he resigned as MLC.Kavita formally left the BRS in January 2026 and later founded Telangana Jagriti, which has now become her platform to return to front-line politics.
