‘Their fault’: Anna Hazare holds AAP responsible over Raghav Chadha, 6 Rajya Sabha MPs joining BJP | India News

New Delhi: The exit of Raghav Chadha and six other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MPs on Friday drew a sharp response from social activist Anna Hazar, who said the leaders might not have left if the party was on the “right” path.“Everyone has the right to have an opinion in a democracy. They (Chadha and others) must have faced some problems, which is why they left,” Hazare told reporters in Maharashtra’s Ahilianagar district, news agency PTI reported.
“It’s their fault. If that party was on the right track, they wouldn’t have left,” he added.He reiterated that those who left the party must have faced problems within the organization. “If the party had gone in the right direction, they would not have left the party,” he said, adding, “There must be some reason (for them to leave AAP). In a democracy, every person has a vision of where to stay and where to stay.”Hazare, a veteran social activist known for his role in India’s anti-corruption movement and rural development work. Raghav Chadha joined AAP during the anti-corruption movement led by him in 2011-12.Several AAP Rajya Sabha MPs on Friday decided to quit the party and join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Chadha also claimed that nearly two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha members had resigned and would function as a separate party.According to the announcement, Chadha said the party of MPs used constitutional provisions to merge with the BJP. “We have decided that we, the 2/3rd members of the AAP in the Rajya Sabha, will exercise the provisions of the Constitution of India and merge ourselves with the BJP,” he said at a press conference at the Constitution Club in Delhi.The development comes amid what Chadha described as a collective decision by a majority of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs to walk out of the party. He referred to himself as “the right person in the wrong party” when announcing the move.The purported exit includes several prominent names such as Swati Maliwal, cricketer-turned Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Rajinder Gupta and Vikramjit Singh Sahni, among others, marking a significant political development within AAP’s parliamentary wing.
