2 FIRs against BJP's Calcutta port candidate after clash with TMC workers

KOLKATA: Two FIRs were registered against BJP’s Kolkata Port candidate Rakesh Singh after he clashed with TMC workers on Monday night. A fortnight ago, the Calcutta High Court released him on interim bail in the Vidyasagar statue vandalism case. The unrest started on Monday when a BJP meeting was allegedly disrupted by the TMC. Singh organized a sit-in outside the Ekbalpur police station to protest police inaction. TMC supporters arrived and the two groups clashed. Singh was reportedly assaulted, requiring hospitalization.
