A major success has emerged against Maoists from Bastar area of Chhattisgarh. In Kanker district of North Bastar, a Maoist commander carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh has surrendered before the police. The surrendered Maoist has been identified as Darsu Shori, who was active in Company Number Five of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army i.e. PLGA.
Kanker Superintendent of Police Nikhil Rakecha said that Darsu Shori surrendered after deciding to return to the mainstream of society. He also handed over an AK-47 assault rifle and some electronic communication gadgets to the police during the surrender. It is being told that he was working under the North Bastar Division Committee of Maoists.
Was a PPCM level member and played an important role in the organization. These members are often involved in providing logistics support, laying landmines, and performing responsibilities such as section commanders within the PLGA. On the basis of important information received from Darsu Shori, efforts are now being made to reach out to other Maoist cadres active in the area.
The police is motivating other Naxalites to surrender and return to the mainstream. Bastar Range Inspector General of Police P. Sundarraj has welcomed this surrender. He said that in recent times many Maoist cadres have decided to leave the path of violence and return to society, which is a positive sign.
IG Sundarraj has once again appealed to the remaining Maoist cadres to give up their arms and join the mainstream. He clearly said that the doors of rehabilitation are open for those who want to leave the path of violence. However, he also said that those Maoists who continue the path of violence will be given a strong response.
