A big controversy has arisen after the complaint of Indian Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and Paralympic gold medalist Sumit Antil. Dronacharya Award winning coach Naval Singh has been dismissed by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) with immediate effect.
The matter came to light when Sumit Antil gave a written complaint to the Sports Authority of India (SAI). In this complaint, he made serious allegations of mental harassment, abuses and inappropriate behavior against coach Naval Singh. Sumit said that the coach often insulted the players under the influence of alcohol and even targeted their families.
in this whole controversy Neeraj Chopra also came forward openly. Describing Naval Singh’s statements as ‘shameful’, he said that the coach used derogatory language for him and his family. According to Neeraj, this behavior was beyond the limits of sporting decorum and human etiquette.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the Paralympic Committee (PCI) took immediate action. PCI President Devendra Jhajharia said that after receiving complaints from many players, the entire matter was investigated. The athletes were given full opportunity to express their views.
The allegations were found to be true at the initial stage of investigation, after which PCI called an emergency meeting. In the meeting, keeping in mind the safety of the athletes, sporting standards and discipline, it was decided that Naval Singh should be immediately removed from all activities.
PCI made it clear in its statement that this kind of behavior towards any athlete is not acceptable and keeping the sporting environment safe is the top priority.
