IAF orders court of inquiry into Sukhoi hard landing at Pune airport | India News
New Delhi/Pune: The IAF has ordered an inquiry into the hard landing of a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet in Pune on Saturday, as flight operations at the civil-military airport resumed after a nearly 10-hour overnight shutdown. IAF spokesperson Wing Commander Jaideep Singh confirmed the investigation. He added: “War level operations were carried out last night to remove aircraft from the runway and make the runway operational. Airport operations have resumed this morning.” Senior officers said investigators will examine multiple factors, including the plane’s vertical motion on touchdown and the pilots’ reactions. “Normally, multiple factors are responsible for any fighter landing heavily. The technical team will thoroughly test each system to detect any technical glitches. One of the important components is the oleo-pneumatic system. This helps in determining the impact of landing,” said an official on condition of anonymity. The plane suffered an undercarriage failure during landing on Friday, which stuck on the runway.
