New Delhi: Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee Election Commission and Dr. again on Tuesday BJP Amid the ongoing war of words over the SIR process.Dr. addressed a public meeting in Pingla of Paschim Medinipur district TMC Pradhan alleged that “logical inconsistency” under the SIR practice is not an officially recognized term under the EC framework and was selectively applied in West Bengal as opposed to Bihar to benefit the BJP. Further slamming the saffron party, he added that he had never seen a “dirty party” like the BJP.The West Bengal chief minister, urging people to vote against the BJP, said, “BJP has taken everything away from you… Voting against it will be the only way to take revenge.”He also claimed that the BJP is organizing rallies at locations with direct rail connectivity to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to facilitate people from those states to fill the seats.Earlier in the day, Mamata launched another scathing attack on the BJP, accusing it of trying to divide and weaken the people of the state, urging voters to support the TMC for a fourth consecutive term.Sharing a video from her election rally in X, Mamata cited her rallies in Birbhum, East Burdwan, West Burdwan and Bankura, urging voters to support TMC candidates, expressing confidence in returning to power. “My brothers and sisters are my greatest asset. My source of strength. The backbone of everything we have built together in these fifteen years… I am full of confidence that our Mother-Mother-Man government will return for a historic fourth consecutive term,” he said.In a guise of the BJP, Banerjee alleged that forces were working to “divide and humiliate” the people of West Bengal and take away their democratic rights. Urging voters to unite, he said, “Those who are conspiring to divide our people, destroy our state, take away democratic rights and exploit and humiliate the people of Bengal will not succeed.He also called for a strong political pitch calling for people from different communities to unite against what he described as “anti-Bengali landlords”. “I call on every caste, every creed, every class, every creed to rise up as an immovable force against the anti-Bengali landlords who threaten everything we stand for,” he said.Mamata appealed for the support of multiple TMC candidates across the constituencies, naming nominees from Siuri, Bolpur, Rampurhat, Lobpur, Aushgram, Golsi, Durgapur East, Durgapur West, Asansol North, Jamuria, Pandabeshwar and Bankura.Polling in West Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29, with the results to be declared on May 4. The contest is expected to be an uphill battle between the ruling TMC, seeking a fourth term, and the BJP, which is aiming to expand its presence in the state after gains in the previous elections.
