New Delhi: Centre Delhi Police Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) risks losing its safe haven protection in India as an intermediary if it fails to act despite a court order and police notice on journalist Rana Ayyub’s allegedly offensive posts about Hindu god and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the Delhi High Court told the High Court on Friday. In a note submitted to the court, the Center said despite having “actual knowledge”, X did not remove “illegal content from its platform” and such inaction amounted to non-compliance with due diligence requirements under the Act.
