Addressing a press conference after releasing the BJP’s manifesto for the Bengal elections, Shah accused Mamata Banerjee’s party of “political conspiracies”.“You don’t know the power of Mamata Banerjee. She can make 2,000 such videos. Humayun Kabir and BJP are like North Pole and South Pole. We can never live together,” news agency ANI quoted Shah as saying.The Union Home Minister said the BJP would rather sit in the opposition for 20 years than join forces with Humayun Kabir, who came into the spotlight by promising to build the Babri Masjid in Bengal.Amit Shah said, “We will sit in opposition for 20 years rather than sit with those who talk about building Babri Masjid in Bengal.”Kabir also denied the allegations and described the video as AI-generated and fabricated.“I have not entered into any agreement with anyone. The clip circulated by the Trinamool Congress does not show who was sitting next to me or in what context the comments were made,” he said.He wanted to turn the tables on the ruling party Narada sting case.“Narda video shows Firhad Hakim and Sougat Roy taking money. I will not back down from the battle I started.”The controversy was triggered by an alleged 19-minute video circulated by the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday, which claimed that Kabir had mentioned a secret understanding with the BJP.In the video, the authenticity of which PTI could not independently verify, a Kabir-like figure is heard claiming proximity to Leader of the Opposition Subvendu Adhikari and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma.The man was also heard saying that he was ready to go to “any extent” to remove Mamata Banerjee from power and received an advance of Rs 200 crore as part of a larger arrangement of Rs 1,000 crore.The TMC cited the video and alleged that Kabir’s anti-Mamata stand and her efforts to build a Muslim political front were part of a covert BJP strategy to split the minority vote in key districts like Murshidabad, Malda, North Dinajpur and Birbhum.The BJP, however, moved quickly to distance itself from Kabir.
