Punjab ‘my soul’, says Chadha in response to AAP Punjab unit charges | India News
New Delhi: “Punjab is not negotiable for me. It is my promise. It is my soul,” defected AAP MP. Raghav Chadha A day earlier, responding to allegations by AAP’s Punjab unit leadership on Sunday said that despite repeated contacts, he had failed to raise issues affecting the state in Parliament. The slogfest began after Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Chadha was removed by the AAP as the party’s deputy leader in the Upper House on Thursday. Since then both sides have been taking positions against each other.Chadha gave a video message on Sunday X saying “To my colleagues in AAP who were forced to issue the video saying “Raghav Chadha failed to raise Punjab’s issue in Parliament”, here is a short trailer…Shabhi still bakhi hai…,”He raised a wide range of issues related to Punjab in the Upper House and dismissed the allegations leveled against him as “baseless and maliciously motivated” and “in direct contradiction with the parliamentary record”.Chadha also gave a written statement. “One of the main allegations against me is that I did not raise the issue of pending funds to Punjab from the Centre. This is completely untrue. I clearly raised this claim on 31 July 2024, and the record is available on Sangsad TV,” Chadha said.Chadha said he raised the issue of pending RDF dues and spoke against financial injustice with Punjab. He went on to list other issues ranging from the worrisome groundwater depletion crisis; farmers’ distress, including MSP concerns, rising input costs, and agricultural crises; Punjab’s agricultural economy needs greater support; the drug menace and the need for a strong institutional response and issues related to border state security among others.“My role as an MP has never been to indulge in noise, theatrics or performative outrage. I entered Parliament to make an impact, not to make a fuss,” he added.“No propaganda campaign can silence my voice or weaken my resolve. Truth will prevail. Truth will prevail. And every lie will be exposed,” the RS MP warned.
