New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor Questionable reports that the Center may withdraw the Foreign Contribution (Control) Amendment Bill, this move cannot be fully believed.Speaking in Nilambur recently, Tharoor said, “Reports of the Center withdrawing the FCRA Amendment Bill cannot be fully believed. It is difficult to understand the urgency with which the central government is trying to bring changes in the FCRA. The bill is likely to be tabled again during the re-session of Parliament on the 16th.”
He also said that the opposition would be vigilant, saying, “The opposition will not allow any amendment to be passed that creates anxiety among religious minorities.”His comments came a day after opposition MPs staged a protest at Makar Dwar in Parliament demanding the withdrawal of the Foreign Contribution (Control) Amendment Bill, 2026. They said the proposed changes could create uncertainty and anxiety among NGOs and religious minority groups.The Foreign Contribution (Control) Amendment Bill, 2026, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 25 March.
