New Delhi: Tamil Nadu’s election race picked up pace on Thursday as Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin filed nomination from Chepauk-Thiruvalikeni, while actor-politician Vijay also contested from Trichy East.Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son Udayanidhi Stalin submitted the nomination DMK Road show on the way to the office of the candidate and Returning Officer. He is the incumbent MLA and is contesting from this seat AIADMK Candidate is pending.“We will create history, we will definitely win this time. Our leader will be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the second time,” he told reporters.In the 2021 elections, he won the seat by a margin of 69,355 votes. On Wednesday, Udayanidhi also announced welfare measures, including Rs 8,000 coupons for household items like TVs, fridges and washing machines. He said, laptops have already been provided to 1 million college students.
Bijay submitted the nomination
President of TVK Actor Vijay On Friday, he filed nominations from Trichy East. He had earlier filed from the Perambu seat on Monday and is contesting from both constituencies.He will face DMK candidate RD Sekar in Perambur and Inigo S Irudayaraj in Trichy East. Party workers gathered in large numbers to welcome him at the Tiruchirappalli airport ahead of the filing.Earlier, Vijay released his party manifesto, promising anti-drug safe zones in schools and colleges. “Our primary aim is to create a drug-free Tamil Nadu,” he said.Tamil Nadu will go to polls in a single phase in all 234 constituencies on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4.
