West Asia crisis: Congress again attacks the government's foreign policy

NEW DELHI: Taking a swipe at the Modi government after it referred to Pakistan as a proxy nation, the Congress on Thursday said the “self-styled world guru’s” bombast and narrative failure diplomacy had turned a “broken country into a proxy nation”.Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said the EAM was trying its best to mask India’s “extreme embarrassment” from Pakistan’s emergence as a mediator in talks to end the West Asia war and the blow to its regional diplomacy. He called it “brutal” that Pakistan is being considered for a “peacemaker” role when its role in state-sponsored terrorism and hosting bin Laden is well-known, as is its role in nuclear proliferation. “…the fact remains that our colossal failures in diplomacy, outreach and narrative management have turned a broken nation into a proxy nation.” Ramesh said.
