D Supreme Court of India Haryana has slammed the police and the state’s child welfare committee for their handling of the three-year-old rape victim’s case, calling their approach “insensitive” and “shameful”.The court took serious exception to the police summoning the minor to the station, instead of the officers meeting her, insisting that such conduct violated basic rules of child protection.It expressed concern over the apparent decline in complaints registered under FIRs POCSO ActNote that the offense appears to have been downgradedThe bench emphasized the need for a child-sensitive approach in cases involving minors and pointed out that procedural errors should not be taken lightly.
