'Shameless attempt to steal Muslim votes': Rajeev Chandrasekhar attacks Kerala CM over 'BJP's B-team' remarks ahead of polls

New Delhi: Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Sunday attacked the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan In leveling the BJP with the Congress, it called it a “shameless attempt” to woo Muslim voters ahead of state assembly elections.Chandrasekhar accused both the CPM and the Congress of misleading voters by showing the contest in Kerala while lining up in other states.“Don’t you find it amazing comedy that the Congress is accusing the BJP of being the B-team of the CPM, and the CPM is accusing the BJP of being the B-team of the Congress. When they are in a formal alliance, in other states, it is like fooling the people of Keralam to believe such nonsense,” Chandras candidate told Neharmo.

“Across the border, they are competing together in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, and trying to mislead the people of Kerala and say they are not allied with each other”.The BJP leader alleged that both parties were trying to mobilize minority votes by taking a stand against the BJP.“This is a shameless attempt with only one goal, both the Congress and the CPM are desperate to get the votes of the Muslim community. The only way they can get the votes of the Muslim community is by pretending that they are opposing the BJP,” he said.He also referred to the Telangana elections, claiming similar tactics were used against the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi.“Congress has done this successfully in Telangana. They have created a controversy that BRS is a B-team of BJP. Sadly, Muslim votes have left BRS and gone to Congress. But people of Keralam will not be fooled by you. They have seen 70 years of corruption, neglect and appeasement and said enough is enough,” Chandrasekhar said.

Vijayan’s comments on BJP, Congress

The sharp reaction came after Vijayan, in an interview with ANI, criticized both the BJP and the Congress for taking similar positions on key issues.“On such issues, both the Congress and the BJP have the same stand. That’s why when the BJP came to power, they started implementing the policies of the Congress more vigorously,” Vijayan said, referring to the Centre’s approach to West Asia.He also expressed confidence that the BJP will not win any seats in the upcoming elections.“I am firmly convinced that the BJP will not get even one seat in this assembly election,” the chief minister said.Rejecting Vijayan’s claim, Chandrasekhar said the election results will be decided by voters, not political opponents.“The tragedy is that he (Vijayan) will not decide. The voters will decide. He said we will not get Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, but we have,” he said.He added that the BJP is the “largest political party in the world” and an emerging force in Kerala politics, accusing both the CPM and the Congress of being “scared to death” of the party.Kerala will go to polls in a single phase on April 9, with counting scheduled on May 4.
