India: Targeting commercial ships unacceptable | India News
Targeting commercial shipping, endangering crew members, impeding free navigation and attacking civilian maritime infrastructure is unacceptable, the Indian government said, stressing amid rising West Asian conflicts, India’s energy security and trade depend critically on safe and unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Addressing a session of the International Maritime Organization Council in London, Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswamy said 24 Indian-flagged vessels were operating in the Persian Gulf region. “We are deeply concerned about the safety of all sailors.”
