Rajnath Singh Tuesday said politics had suffered from a crisis of trust in the past and stressed that decency and credibility should always remain the cornerstone of public life.“Not too long ago there was a perception that politicians don’t speak the truth or practice what they preach. When someone gets confused, they say, ‘Are you playing politics with me?’ The word ‘politics’ has lost credibility,” he said. But there were leaders who worked tirelessly to restore faith in politics, the minister added.
Singh was addressing a memorial meeting organized on the first death anniversary of former Union Minister Devendra Pradhan, father of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Remembering him as a ‘rare personality who rose to the stature of politics’. Singh said he witnessed Pradhan’s simplicity, humility and commitment to match words with deeds during their time together. TNN
