Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attends ‘Nari Utsav’ in Nirmal Chhaya

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday attended the ‘Nari Utsav’ function held at Nirmal Chhaya Complex, where she paid tribute to the strength and contribution of women in nation building. He said that women are playing a leading role in various sectors through their dedication, selfless service and sense of duty and taking the country towards the goal of Vixit Bharat 2047.During his visit, Chief Minister Nirmal Chaya visited the campus and reviewed various projects, services and facilities. She launched and evaluated several initiatives of the Department of Women and Child Development, reiterating the Delhi government’s commitment to holistic empowerment of women and children.CM Gupta noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women are scaling new heights – from rural industries to the corporate sector and from politics to the armed forces – and said the Delhi government is working in the same direction to make women more empowered and self-reliant.Emphasizing safety, dignity and self-reliance as the three pillars of women’s empowerment, Gupta said every woman deserves a safe environment, respect in all circumstances and the opportunity to be financially independent.He also announced that the upcoming Delhi Budget, to be presented on March 24, will include key initiatives for women and girls. Emphasizing the importance of self-help groups (SHGs), he said women in Delhi would be given opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship through a small group-based model. She stressed the need to expand platforms like ‘Mahila Hut’ to help women showcase and sell their products.The Chief Minister said that the government’s focus is not only on launching the schemes, but on ensuring their effective implementation so that the benefits reach every needy person. He emphasized society’s shared responsibility to ensure that no one remains hungry, unemployed or neglected.After the ceremony, Gupta made a detailed inspection of Nirmal Chaya Complex. He visits After Care Homes for Women, Balika Griha and Bal Niketan to ensure that the residents are getting proper care, safety and facilities. He interacted with the children, distributed bags and essentials and reviewed arrangements related to safety, nutrition and overall care, giving necessary instructions to officials.Rekha Gupta also visited Sankalp Hub, where activities related to protection, awareness and empowerment of women mission strength was displayed. At the SHG-run ‘Mahila Hut’, she reviews local products and exhibits, including nutritious millet-based food.Interacting with women trained under the WCD-DSEU programme, the Chief Minister lauded the launch of SHG-run canteens at 10 locations, calling it a powerful model for promoting women entrepreneurship.Gupta also visited ‘Samarth Anganwadis’, which showcased improved infrastructure, multi-dimensional activities and health and wellness services. She reviewed preventive health check-ups, wellness counseling and monthly health awareness programs for women.During the event, the Chief Minister launched several key initiatives, including a compilation of projects related to women and children and the WCD newsletter. He distributed health mix kits to pregnant and lactating mothers, provided incentives to Anganwadi workers and launched the Juvenile Justice Management Information System (JJMIS) portal to improve delivery of child-centred services.Under the ‘Give to Gain’ initiative, he called for stronger collaboration between the government and the private sector to improve Anganwadi centers and child care institutions. The initiative will support installation of sanitary napkin vending machines, infrastructure improvements, expansion of mobile health services and new programs for women and children as well as livelihood opportunities for women and self-reliant groups.The Chief Minister assured that the government is fully committed to empowering women, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children and uplifting the weaker sections of the society. He added that when women are empowered, both the society and the nation are strengthened – and Delhi is moving strongly in that direction.
