25-year-old biker killed in Malade road rage stabbing

MUMBAI: A 25-year-old biker employed by a digital marketing company was killed in a road rage incident near Inorbit Mall in Malad (West) on Saturday morning and the Bangur Nagar police have arrested a taxi driver and his passenger in connection with the case.The deceased has been identified as Sharik Ansari (25), a resident of Malwani, who was on his way to his workplace in Malad (West). Cab driver Satyendra Gupta (28) and passenger Sunil Pal (27) both hail from Laljipara in Kandivli West.Gupta alerted police over the phone that a biker was involved in a fight with him, but the biker was stabbed before police arrived at the scene. “Trouble started when the bike driver collided with the cab after the cab braked. During the scuffle, the cab driver took out a sharp object from his vehicle and stabbed Ansari. The weapon pierced Ansari’s chest and the back of his neck. The accused was caught on the spot as he himself called the DCP when he called Sandeep,” said Yadav.The incident took place between 11 am and 11.30 am near Inorbit Mall under Oswal Metro Station. Police said both Ansari and Gupta were traveling from Malwani to Andheri via Link Road when a heated argument broke out near the Mith Chowki junction while they were driving. “The verbal altercation quickly escalated as the duo drove while arguing. The clash escalated when they stopped their car near Infinity Mall in Malad under Oswal Metro station and the cab driver got out of his car after a physical altercation,” said the police officer.The officer said Ansari was riding behind the taxi and his bike touched the vehicle slightly. “Gupta then stopped his cab and blocked the bike rider’s path, following which an altercation ensued. During the argument, Ansari hit the windscreen of the taxi with his helmet and damaged the glass. Gupta then got angry and stabbed him. The passenger named Pal also got involved in the collision. So a case has been registered against both Gupta and Pal,” said the officer. According to police, witnesses intervened and took Ansari to Critcare Hospital in Malad West, where doctors declared him brought dead. “He, who has also been made an accused in the case, is engaged in repairing water pumps,” the police said The weapon used by Gupta to stab Ansari has been seized by the police.
