LPG Issue: 2 Power Subsidies for TN Meals

CHENNAI: Hotels and eateries in Tamil Nadu that switch to electric stoves will get a subsidy of Rs 2 per unit on excess electricity consumed, the state government said on Saturday as it introduced a series of measures to soften the blow of LPG supply disruption. A meeting chaired by CM MK Stalin decided that under the unemployed youth employment generation programme, small and medium-scale hoteliers willing to switch to electric stoves can get loans of up to Rs 3.7 lakh with 25% subsidy. Women entrepreneurs will be eligible for a loan of up to Rs 10 lakh with 25% subsidy under the Women Entrepreneurs Scheme. Also, under the Anal Ambedkar Business Champions Scheme, a subsidy of up to 35%, capped at Rs 1 crore, will be extended to eligible industrial units run by SC and ST entrepreneurs. Industries are allowed to temporarily use alternative fuels without seeking new pollution control approvals during the restriction period. TNN
