The 98th Oscar Awards Ceremony will be held tomorrow i.e. March 16 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. It will be telecast from 4:30 am Indian time. This year, no Indian film has received an Oscar nomination, although two documentary films of Indian-origin filmmaker Geeta Gandbhir have received Oscar nominations.
Priyanka Chopra is going to present the Oscar Award once again after 2016. She is the only Indian to become a presenter twice.
This year, Hollywood film Sinner has created a record by receiving 16 Oscar nominations. If this film is successful in winning more than 11 Oscars, it will become the world’s most Oscar winning film. Currently this record is held by 1997’s Titanic, 2003’s Lords of the Ring and 1995’s Ben-Hur.

American film Sinners has received the maximum 16 nominations in the 98th Academy Awards. With this, this film has become the film receiving the most nominations in the history of Oscar. Earlier this record was held by All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997) and La La Land (2016), which received a total of 14 nominations.
The film Sinners can set a big record
If Sinners, which received a record 16 nominations, wins 11 or more Oscars, it will become the film with the most awards in Oscar history. So far, this record of winning 11 Oscars is held by Ben-Hur (1995), Titanic (1997) and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003).

Leonardo received the sixth Best Actor nomination of his career.
Leonardo DiCaprio has received a Best Actor nomination for the film One Battle After Another. He has received a total of 6 Oscar Best Actor nominations so far. He received the first Best Actor Oscar of his career for the 2015 film Renowned. Leonardo’s film One Battle After Another has received 13 nominations in different categories this year.
Indian origin Geeta Gandbhir got 2 Oscar nominations
Geeta Gambhadir has received two nominations at the Oscars. He has received the first nomination in the Best Documentary Feature Film category for the film The Perfect Neighbor and the second nomination in the Best Documentary Short Film category for The Devil is Busy. Before this, Geeta has also won 2 Emmy Awards. Geeta’s father Sharad Gandbhir was an Indian who settled in the US in 1960. Geeta was born in Boston. His film A Perfect Neighbor is based on the life of Ajike from Florida, who was murdered by a 58-year-old woman living next door in 2023.
Best Casting Award will be given for the first time in the history of Oscar
A new category has been added to the 98th Oscar Awards. From this year onwards, Oscar will also be given for Best Casting, whereas till now this category was not included in the Oscars. This year, the casting directors of the films Sinners, Marty Supreme, Hamnet, One Battle After Another and The Secret Agent have received nominations.
No Indian film has received an Oscar in 98 years
The Oscar Award started in the year 1929. In the year 1957, films from all over the world started being sent to the Oscars through the Best Foreign Language category. After the arrival of this category, Mehboob Khan’s film Mother India was sent for Oscar in 1957. This became the first film to go to Oscar. After this, ‘Salaam Bombay’ in 1989, ‘Lagaan’ in 2003 and Marathi film ‘Shwaas’ in 2004 got the final nomination, but none of these films could win the award.
India missed out on winning the Oscar in the Best Film category, but till now 9 Indians have won the Oscar. Bhanu Athaiya is the first Indian to win an Oscar. Whereas AR Rahman is the only Indian who has received 2 Oscars. He received the Best Original Score and Best Original Song awards for the song Jai Ho from the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire.

- Louis B. Mayer, head of Hollywood studio MGM, laid the foundation of the Oscar Award in 1927 by forming a committee to appreciate films.
- After 2 years of preparations, the first Oscar ceremony took place in Los Angeles in 1929 in the presence of 270 people.
- The first Oscar Awards ceremony lasted 15 minutes.
- In 1939, the name of the Academy Award was changed to Oscar.
- In 1929, the first Best Actor Award went to Hollywood actor Emil Jannings, but before him the Academy wanted to give this award to a trained German Shepherd dog named Rin Tin Tin, who was saved in World War II. He worked in 27 Hollywood films. The Academy members changed the decision thinking that giving the first award to a dog would send a wrong message to the society.
- Marlon Brando received the Oscar Award for Best Actor for the film ‘The Godfather’, although he refused to accept this award. In fact, he believed that the image of Americans was being tarnished in Hollywood films.

Will Smith slaps the host at the ceremony
The 2022 Oscar ceremony was headlined by Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on stage. Host Chris joked about Will’s wife’s bald head. Sometime when Will Smith received the Best Actor Award for the film ‘King Richard’, he apologized to the Academy on stage, but he did not say anything for Chris Rock.
Will Smith has been banned from attending the Oscars for 10 years.
Marlon Brando’s Oscar was stolen, Leonardo DiCaprio returned the same award
Marlon Brando had received the Best Actor Award for the 1954 film ‘On the Waterfront’, which was stolen from his home.
After some time, the same award was gifted to ‘Titanic’ actor Leonardo DiCaprio by American financier Joe Low. Joe Lo had invested money in Leonardo’s film ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.
When Joe Lo was investigated for fraud and his assets were confiscated, Leonardo had to return the award to the authorities. Joe Lo told the officials that he had bought this award in an auction for 6 lakh dollars (Rs 5.2 crore).
Leonardo received the first award of his career in 2016 for the film Renevent.
52 Oscar trophies were found in the garbage heap
20 days before the Oscar Awards 2000, a truck filled with 55 trophies was stolen. New trophies were hastily made for the ceremony. A few days later, a man found 52 trophies in a garbage heap.
After giving information to the academy, that person got a reward of 5 thousand dollars. One of the remaining 3 trophies was found in the drug raid, but the remaining 2 trophies are still missing. All the trophies recovered were destroyed.
After recovery of the trophy, it was presented to the press.
Wrong film got the Best Picture award due to changing the envelope
In 2017, the film ‘Moonlight’ was going to be awarded in the Best Picture category, however, the name of the film ‘La La Land’ was written in the envelope received by the award presenters. After the announcement, the presenters announced the correct name and apologized.
