Madhu Malhotra, who acted in ‘Hero’, ‘Satte Pe Satta’, dies | India News
Subhash Ghai’s box-office smash Hero (1983) offered a bouquet of chartbusters, such as ‘Tu Mera Jaanu Hai’, ‘Par Karne Wale Kavi Darte Nahi’ and ‘Ding Dong Baby Sing A Song.’ But the number that seems to have aged the most with time is ‘Lambi Judai’, a melancholic song infused with Pakistani folk singer Reshma Atma. Madhu Malhotra, who lip-synced the pain song on celluloid in a multicolored gypsy outfit, and who was one of the leading ladies in the superhit multi-starrer ‘Satte Pe Satta’ (1982), died in Mumbai on Friday, according to ‘Film Information’, a trade magazine. He was 71. Madhu was a familiar face in Hindi films of the 1970s and 1980s, appearing in more than 100 films, albeit mostly in small roles. He was a regular in Ghai’s films ‘Bishwanath’ (1978), ‘Karj’ (1980) and ‘Vidhata’ (1982) as well as cameos in Mohan Bhakri’s horror films such as Khuni Murda (1989) and Ruhani Takat (1991). She paired opposite comic actor Paintal in Satte Pe Satta. One can remember the good old days as the happy girl in the beach hat in the song ‘Mausam Mastana’. Film director Anil Sharma said, “He had a small role in Amar Shraddhaanjali (1981). He was a complete professional.”
