Marriage proposal annulled: HIV-positive man injects woman with infected blood in Hyderabad

New Delhi: A 24-year-old man allegedly injected a 22-year-old woman with HIV-infected blood in Hyderabad after her family canceled their planned wedding when she tested positive for the virus, police said on Saturday. The incident took place on March 11 at the woman’s house. Police said the accused forced the victim to feed HIV-infected blood.According to investigators, the accused and the female relatives and their families initially agreed to their marriage. However, the woman’s parents decided to get the man medically tested in September last year after learning that her parents were already infected with HIV.“Since he (the man) was found HIV positive during the check-up, the woman’s father annulled his daughter’s marriage with him,” said a police official, adding that the accused did this thinking he would marry her and be with her forever.Following a complaint filed by the woman’s father, the police registered a case against the accused at Pocharam IT Corridor police station for attempted murder. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is on, police said. The woman was admitted to hospital for treatment.
