'Water will make Tehri an important destination for adventure sports': CM Dhami attends Tehri Lake Festival

Tehri Garhwal (Uttarakhand): Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami Tehri on Friday joined the Lake Festival Himalayan-O2 2026, highlighting its intention to make it a major hub for sports. Addressing the event, he said, “Our government aims to make Tehri an important destination for water and adventure sports. A place where national and international athletes come for water sports and adventure sports,” he said, encouraging sports like kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing and scuba diving.“We will continue our efforts to accelerate and give wings to the prospects here. We have started it. We will work to take it forward”, he added. Pointing out that Tehri Lake is being developed as part of Pratham village in Timon village, he said, “Rs. 1.3 billion has been invested in development of Tehri Lake and construction of ring road.”He encouraged the players in their sports and assured them of support from the government. “I want to tell all our players to dedicate themselves to the sport, and they should carry this feeling in their lives. I want to tell all the young players to go ahead with full dedication, enthusiasm and confidence to realize their dreams,” said Dhami.“I am sure that in future, you will definitely make India and our state proud at the national and international levels,” he added. Tehri Lake is steadily emerging as a major attraction for tourists across India and abroad. Uttarakhand tourism is getting a new identity under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami. The Chief Minister also emphasized that tourism is creating new employment opportunities for the local youth.
