Tamil cinema superstar actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay has shared his first social media post after the divorce petition filed by his wife Sangeeta Sornalingam, but he did not directly comment on the personal dispute.

Vijay’s personal life has been in the news for the past few days as his wife Sangeeta has filed a petition for divorce in the District Court of Chengalpattu. In this, Sangeeta has alleged that Vijay being in an extramarital relationship with an actress is the main reason for the breakup of their relationship. The petition also claims that this relationship was going on since April 2021, which caused deep emotional distress to Sangeeta and caused mental anguish to her.

Vijay and Sangeeta were married on 25 August 1999.

It is also written in this divorce petition that the marital relationship between Sangeeta and Vijay was very peaceful and harmonious years ago, but gradually the circumstances deteriorated. The petition clarifies that everything was normal at the time of marriage, but everything changed after she came to know about the husband’s alleged second relationship. When Sangeeta first spoke about it, Vijay assured that he would end the relationship, but the petition claims that the relationship continued and the situation went from bad to worse.

Vijay has not yet given any open or official statement regarding these allegations. Despite this, she meanwhile made a post on her social media account (X, previously Twitter), which does not directly address the divorce or the relationship dispute. Vijay wished all the best to the students appearing for +2 board exams from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and encouraged them to excel in the examination without stress and fear. He wrote, “All of you who have a bright future, enter the examination with courage, victory is certain!”

The timing and topic of this post was also interesting because it came at a time when the news of divorce had created a big stir in Vijay’s personal and public life. Many fans and social media users are discussing the fact that Vijay shared a message wishing students the best for the exams even amidst difficulties related to his personal life, as if he has tried to avoid controversy.

Vijay and Sangeeta’s marriage was quite long; The couple got their marriage jointly registered in 1998 and got married in 1999 in Chennai with traditional Tamil and Hindu rituals. He also has two children. But now the relationship looks like it’s beyond repair, as mentioned in the divorce petition. The petition on behalf of Sangeeta has also demanded that the right to live in the matrimonial home and suitable equivalent accommodation should be given, as well as permanent maintenance assistance (alimony) should be given as per the income and social status of the respondent.

While Vijay is busy with film and political activities, this matter has also become a topic of discussion in the politics and entertainment world of Tamil Nadu. Although Vijay himself has not given any statement on this controversy, it is clear that his first social media message has been to move away from the controversy and spread positivity, rather than directly addressing the divorce issue.
