New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday condemned the attack launched by the US and Israel on Iran and urged the Indian government to “immediately end” the hostilities and help ensure the safety of all Indians in West Asia.Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “President Trump has been pursuing diplomacy and negotiations with Iran for weeks. Encouraged by Israeli Prime Minister Mr. Netanyahu and hawks in the United States, he has launched a military offensive aimed at achieving regime change.” Ramesh said the Congress “condemns the attack” and “urges the government to help stop hostilities.”
“The rapidly escalating hostilities between the US-Israel and Iran are worrisome,” said MP Rahul Gandhi. “The safety and security of every Indian citizen across the Middle East must be our highest priority.”Meanwhile, the Congress has termed Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Israel as “shameful” and “criminal”, saying it creates the impression of political support for military escalation. Ramesh said that two days after Modi’s “celebratory visit to Israel”, Israel and the US launched their joint attack on Iran.
