Railway Jobs 2025: 5,000 Posts for Agniveers and Ex-Servicemen, Pact Signed with Army | India News
New Delhi: In a move to strengthen civil-military cooperation, the Railways and the Army have formalized a framework of cooperation to expand post-retirement employment opportunities for firemen and army personnel. The Railways said it will hire more than 5,000 ex-servicemen as pointsmen on contractual basis to fill vacancies quickly.The initiative is designed to ensure a smooth transition from military to civilian careers and to create awareness about job prospects within the Railways. It will also create a dedicated support system to assist retired employees, the Railways said.This collaborative framework underscores a shared commitment to providing veterans with meaningful second-career pathways while supporting broader national development goals.In an official release, the Railways said that in order to provide employment opportunities to ex-servicemen and ex-firemen, 10% horizontal reservation has been made in Level-2 and above posts and 20% in Level-1 posts for ex-servicemen. A further 5% reservation in Level-II and above posts and 10% in Level-I posts has been fixed for ex-servicemen. “In 2024 and 2025, a total of 14,788 posts were reserved for ex-servicemen in the Railway vacancy notification,” it said.
