Delhi High Court: Sengar’s sentence suspension plea: HC asks AIIMS to examine him | India News
New Delhi: Delhi High Court AIIMS has been asked to constitute a medical board to examine Jaideep Sengar, who is seeking suspension of his 10-year jail sentence on medical grounds in the 2018 Unnao rape survivor’s custodial death case.Jaideep – brother of expelled BJP functionary Kuldeep Sengar, who was convicted of raping the Unnao girl when she was a minor – sought relief due to a suspected recurrence of stage-IV oral cancer.
A bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja observed that an independent medical evaluation was required to ascertain Jaydeep’s current health condition. The CBI opposed the petition and claimed that the medical documents produced by the convict in support of his plea were fake. The rape survivor’s lawyer also opposed the plea, fearing that she would abuse her freedom.
