The Afghan government had said in its statement that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliatory attacks and 19 Pakistani posts were captured.

The 2,611 kilometer long Durand Line is a border that is not formally recognized by Afghanistan. This line has been a point of conflict between the two neighbors for a long time.
