India's position has declined, says Congress in Modi's Knesset address

New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday said that Prime Minister Modi’s speech in the Knesset was an “overwhelming defense of his host” Benjamin Netanyahu, adding that it undermined India’s moral standing. The group published a letter from Jawaharlal Nehru to Albert Einstein, in which the first prime minister called Arab rights crucial in the context of the creation of Israel.Referring to Modi’s statement that India recognized Israel on his birthday, Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said Einstein wrote to Nehru on June 13, 1947 about the creation of Israel and replied on the following July 11. He posted Nehru’s letter on X.Nehru wrote, “I confess that while I have much sympathy for the Jews, I also sympathize with the Arabs in their plight.”Congress attack reflects Rahul’s frustration: BJPThe BJP on Thursday attacked the Congress for criticizing Prime Minister Modi’s Israel speech, saying the attack reflected frustration over Rahul Gandhi’s fading prime ministerial prospects. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra highlighted Modi’s standing ovation in the Knesset and the Speaker’s medal, while the Congress is trying to tarnish India’s image through allegations, propaganda.
