‘Right time for family entertainment’: Ekta Kapoor reacts to ‘Bhoot Bangla’ releasing three weeks after Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic




Producer Ekta Kapoor on Wednesday reacted to the release timing of her film Bhoot Bangla. He said that scheduling the film a few weeks after ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and ‘Toxic’ has been done keeping in mind family entertainment and holiday time. It is noteworthy that the film Dhurandhar has earned more than Rs 1300 crore worldwide. Now the second part of the film will be released on March 19, which will clash with Yash’s film Toxic at the box office. At the same time, Ekta Kapoor’s produced film Bhoot Bangla will be released on April 10. Regarding the release date of the film, Ekta said, “By the release of our film, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and ‘Toxic’ will have had a good run. At that time, the exams of some schools will be over. There will also be a holiday period. My son’s IB board exams will be over in May.” He further said, “The most important thing is that families like to watch such films. Our aim is to bring a different kind of entertainment. Different types of films should be made for the audience.” Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are working together again after 14 years with ‘Bhoot Bangla’. The film is being presented in association with Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films. Ekta Kapoor called the pair “soulmates”. He told, “This is a vintage Priyadarshan and Akshay sir film. When we wrote the script and narrated it to Akshay sir, he liked the story. We told him that we want Priyadarshan to direct it. He immediately agreed.” He said, “After this we took the script to Priyadarshan sir. He liked the story. He also made some changes.” Apart from Akshay Kumar, Vamika Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav will be seen in the film. It will also star actor Asrani, who died in October 2025. Ekta Kapoor said, “Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Akshay sir are a strong combination with Priyadarshan.” On the question of franchise, he said, “Franchise is not planned in advance. If the film does well, it itself becomes a franchise.”
