Ministers to present Modi 3.0 reforms at next Cabinet meet | India News

New Delhi: Eschewing the routine of taking up projects and policy proposals for the “consideration and approval” agenda, ministers will personally present the “major reforms” undertaken by their ministries and departments from June 2024 and their benefits in the next Cabinet meeting.Officials said the change is aimed at furthering the government’s agenda of reducing compliance burdens and simplifying rules and procedures for ease of living and doing business.In a communication – soon after Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting at the new Prime Minister’s Office Seva Tirtha – Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan told all ministries that the Prime Minister “desires” that all ministers present major reforms in the next Cabinet meeting and the date will be communicated in due course.Busy activities have started across the Ministry of Communication since Tuesday evening.The focus will be mainly on people-centric reforms in laws, policies, notifications, rules and regulations that each ministry has undertaken during the third term of the Modi-led government, TOI learnt. Ministries have been asked to send to the Cabinet Secretary by March 2 (Monday) a two-page “executive summary of the most important reforms” that their ministers will present to the Cabinet.Officials said that a detailed format mentioning “three reforms under four categories and their impact” has been sent to all ministries. They are asked to include changes — including abolition, simplification and revision of forms, digitization, risk-based inspection and self-certification — to improve ease of doing business.Officials believe this exercise will allow ministries and departments to share their experiences while formulating and implementing reforms.
