As soon as the trailer of ‘Kerala Story 2’ was released, the film has been embroiled in controversies. A petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court regarding the certification of the film and its alleged misrepresentation of the state of Kerala. The petitioner alleges that the film can harm the image of the state. During the hearing held on Tuesday, the Kerala High Court commented that Kerala is a peaceful and harmonious state, but it has been shown in a wrong way in the film, which may affect its image. When the case was heard again in the afternoon, the court was told that the makers of the film were ready to withdraw the teaser. After this the court said that the next hearing of the case will be on Wednesday. On that day it will be decided whether the court will watch the film before its release on February 27 or not. However, before the afternoon hearing, the court had said that it wanted to see the film before passing any orders. Additionally, the court also asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) whether the film followed all the required guidelines. Let us tell you, in his petition, the petitioner has demanded changes in some parts of the film, which also includes the demand to change the title of the film. The petition states that the film has been certified for public exhibition by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), even though it allegedly does not comply with the provisions of the Cinematography Act, 1952. According to the complaint, the controversy started with the teaser and trailer of the film. In these, stories of women from different states have been shown, but due to the title of the film being ‘Kerala Story’, issues like alleged terrorism, forced conversion and demographic conspiracy have been shown specifically linked to Kerala.
