Bharat Taxi won’t let drivers earn below base rate: Shah | India News

New Delhi: Cooperation Minister Dr Amit Shah India on Monday assured minimum base fares to registered cab drivers on taxi platforms, saying existing corporate aggregators operate on models focused on maximizing profits.At a town hall with cab and auto drivers from Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, Shah said the drivers will get 80% of the revenue per km driven, and 20% will be retained as cooperative capital. “Whatever business you’re in, you should set a minimum. And anything above that should come back to you,” he said, adding that three major aggregators told him they did not set a minimum base rate.He announced a dedicated ‘Sarathi Didi’ feature, which allows women traveling alone to give preference to female drivers. Launched earlier this month, Bharat Taxi operates in NCR and Rajkot and aims to expand to every city with a civic body. Shah said it would follow the Amul model, with 85% of profits going back to producers. As membership increases, drivers can become co-owners by purchasing shares of Rs 500 each, with board seats reserved for representatives.
