Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Haridwar on Saturday to review preparations for Kumbh Mela-2027. Reaching the Kumbh Mela Control Building (CCR), the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones of 34 major infrastructure projects sanctioned by the state government for Kumbh Mela-2027. These permanent development works with an estimated cost of Rs.234.55 crores will strengthen the long-term development of the city of Haridwar as well as ensure the successful, safe and well-organized conduct of the Kumbh Mela.Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while talking to the media, said, “All the preparations are going on, and soon after the 2025 Chardham Yatra is over, we have started preparations for the 2026 Chardham Yatra and several rounds of meetings have already been held. We are holding regular meetings with stakeholders, taking suggestions from everyone involved in organizing the yatra.”He added, “This time, the yatra is being held a bit earlier. The doors are set to open in April, when schools will be closed, and there will be a huge crowd. So, all arrangements are being made to ensure a positive yatra experience for the visitors… A review meeting was held today for the 2027 Kumbh Mela, and the foundation stone was laid.”“All work should be completed on time. All arrangements for Kumbh should be well organized, and everyone should participate. All departments should work in coordination with each other,” Dhami added.Meanwhile, ahead of the Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar next year, extensive preparations are being made by the Mela administration to ensure convenience, safety and smooth movement of devotees coming from different parts of the country.Considering the possibility of a large influx of pilgrims by rail during the Kumbh Mela, ground level efforts have been intensified to provide additional facilities and necessary arrangements at Haridwar and other nearby railway stations.In this regard, Mela Officer Sonika made a detailed visit to the Haridwar Railway Station, along with the Mela Administration and Railway officials, to review the arrangements and assess the facilities offered by the Railways for the Kumbh Mela.
